The Africa Band Aid program
is a charitable initiative geared towards uplifting the living standards of
the local communities in Africa. Today, many challenges affecting the
communities have an upper hand in both the social and economic impairment
in many African states and hence need to be addressed. Some of these
include HIV/Aids, poor health services, inaccessibility to education and
last but not least, water and sanitation. We hope and pray that generosity
and sympathy may fill your hearts, all with an aim of helping the needy in
Africa by making a simple donation to our current area of concentration (Sori Lakeside Hospital) in the account specified in
this site. Say yes for life, with the Africa Band Aid program. Yours truly, J.D Ott PROJECT
CO-ORDINATOR
Sori
lakeside hospital is situated 67 Kilometers from Migori
town along the shores of Lake Victoria in Kenya-East Africa. The current
situation within this area is unbearable to westernized individuals due to
its remote nature, which gives it access to no electricity,
telecommunication services as well as vital goods and services. In recent
times, hospitals as the most vital institutions in today’s world should
have access to goods and services which in this case benefit staff and
patients during crucial times of its operation. Some of these include,
Medical drugs, boarding facilities e.g. beds, beddings etc, proper and
adequate sterilization, catering and other examination equipment such as
X-Ray, Ultrasound etc just to mention a few. Due to financial hurdles
however, Sori Lakeside hospital has failed to
provide affordable, quality, preventive and curative medical services since
its kitty cannot adequately support the purchasing of drugs and other basic
items mentioned above. This has led
to an increase in the common man’s expenditure since they have to travel
60Kilometres sometimes on foot, only to end up being medical hostages for
periods extending up to three years at expensive private hospitals as they
cannot offset their bills. Apart
from medical services, Lakeside hospital also supports Orphaned and
destitute children through its Knowledge Is Life Initiative[KILI]. However,
things have not been that easy due to limited resources, that deny the
program proper educational facilities such as books, chairs as well as
teaching staff. This has prompted well wishers from the community as well
as JICA to participate in teaching and nursing departments at the orphanage
school and hospital respectively without pay, hoping that things may become
better in future. It is therefore with hope for
this needy society that the Africa Band Aid in collaboration with SFT
[Search For Tomorrow Kenya Group] puts out a hand, requesting for financial
assistance from well wishers in order to support various development
activities for the benefit of a crying community.
